John Steele, Not in Our Town facilitator and educational consultant, is starting a discussion series in Lawrenceville.
“Hello, my name is John Steele and I am an aspiring white ally. Understanding and unpacking one’s own privilege is difficult, and almost impossible on one’s own. I hope you will become a part of this community of individuals trying to do so together!
I am happy to announce our first meeting will be this coming Tuesday, March 28, 2017 from 6:30-7:30pm at the Lawrence Community Center!
For this initial meeting, we will spend a good amount of time laying the foundation of community norms and sharing what brought each of us to this space. As time permits, we will review / discuss some key passages / exercises from chapters one and two of Waking Up White, by Debbie Irving.”
