At Grounds for Sculpture, discussion between artist Joyce J. Scott and Pulitzer Prize winning Washington Post National Enterprise Editor and Reporter, David Finkel will focus on “the artist’s lifelong desire to provoke and encourage conversations on topics including racism, classism, slavery, and misogyny through performance and sculpture. Over the last 45 years, Joyce J. Scott has established herself as an innovative artist whose work fuses the autobiographical with the historical and creates powerful opportunities for dialogue on complex and sensitive issues.” A private viewing of Joyce J. Scott: Harriet Tubman and Other Truths, the most comprehensive exhibition of Scott’s work to date will precede the program. The exhibit will continue through April 1, 2018.
