James Baldwin Lecture Series: “The Limits Of The Quantitative Approach To Discrimination”

October 11, 2022 @ 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm

What can the quantitative approach reveal, but, more importantly, in what situations  can it not tell us what we need to know, both because of the inherent limits of quantification and because of the way knowledge is socially constructed in quantitative communities? Annual James Baldwin Lecture series speaker, Arvind Narayanan, is a professor of computer science at Princeton. His work was among the first to show how machine learning reflects cultural stereotypes including racial and gender biases. He is co-authoring a textbook in fairness and machine learning.

Registration for in-person attendance is currently sold out. Please click here to register to watch online.
