On Friday, June 10, we will hold our 6th annual awards ceremony at 5 pm. We honor the work of individuals who helped us all remember and commemorate the estimated 10 million people who were enslaved in the United States and colonial America through their service and research. Our keynote speaker will be Michelle Evans Oliver, president of the Richmond, Virginia, branch of ASALH. Our networking event will follow the awards ceremony.
On Saturday, June 11, we will hold our 5th annual conference that will begin at 8:30 am with a commemoration ceremony honoring our ancestors. This year, we have over 18 presentations, including “ancestor poster sessions.” Dr. Shelley Viola Murphy, a professional genealogist, be our plenary speaker, and then we will break into the first of three sets of four presentations. Next, we will hear from Cheryl Wills, an award-winning television journalist, and author, at lunchtime. Then, attendees can pick from 8 more sessions (2 more sets of four presentations). There will be a business meeting for members of the organization after the conference.
