New Jersey Institute of Social Justice’s New Jersey Reparations Council was created to study New Jersey’s own often overlooked history of slavery and its legacy. Two panels of experts will explain why and how the Council came into being, what it has learned so far and what its vision is for a freer New Jersey.
The Council is comprised of nine subject-matter Committees who will each produce written pieces to be compiled into a report to be released on Juneteenth 2025. Jelani Cobb, award-winning journalist and Dean at Columbia Journalism School, will moderate the Juneteenth event, which will be held at the world-class NJPAC.
