You Belong Here celebrates the dynamic expressions of Latinx photography across the United States. The exhibition brings together both established artists and a new generation of image-makers, who address themes of family and community, fashion and culture, and the complexity of identity in American life.The exhibition, for which Art on Hulfish will be the first venue, extends curator Pilar Tompkins Rivas’s work as guest editor of the Winter 2021 issue of Aperture magazine. She explains that the photographers featured share fresh and critical perspectives on Latinx creativity and identity: “collectively, their images cast a greater net for the multiple ways of seeing Latinx people, creating a visual archive whose edges are yet to be defined.”
The exhibition features works by Genesis Báez, William Camargo, Sofía Córdova, Perla de Leon, Tarrah Krajnak, Hiram Maristany, Joiri Minaya, Steven Molina Contreras, Star Montana, Eddie Quiñones, Reynaldo Rivera, Guadalupe Rosales, Gabriela Ruiz and Bibs Moreno, John M. Valadez.
