After receiving an anonymous note from students complaining that her wearing a Black Lives Matter t-shirt was “inappropriate” and “highly offensive,” Whittier Law School professor, Patricia Leary, shared her response in a memo to her students. She stated, among other points, that “[t]o assert that the Black Lives Matter movement is about violence against the police is to ignore (and invert) the causal reality that the movement arose as an effect of police violence.”
