There will be a tour this Sunday, October 7 at 11:00 am in Harlem through nearly 400 years of Muslim history in New York City! From turn-of-the-century Bengali sailors to celebrations of a Senegalese saint, There are incredible stories here of multiracial struggle, artistic production, and religious growth that make New York a major hub of global Islamic history. We’ll be walking around to look at sites, architecture, and revisit important events of the past.
Bring good walking shoes, water, and your imagination! We’ll be meeting at the Adam Clayton Powell Statue at 125th Street and Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Blvd rain or shine. The tour will end 2.5 hours later at 116 and Malcolm X Blvd.
