Caroline Clarke: Even though America has never achieved color blindness in any of its institutions, the Roberts Court now mandates color blindness in the college admissions process. Justice Roberts began with a review of the Supreme Court’s past decisions interpreting the equal protection clause. Those decisions, he concluded, reflect the clause’s “core purpose” …“doing away with all governmentally imposed discrimination based on race.”
